Not much stitching today

Nothing on the OC today. I did put in a few stitches on a binding while enjoying my first outdoor fire in my new fireplace. Emmett liked sitting on the swing with me and watching the fire while I stitched. So I got a little done before it got too dark.

Step one

I finally finished step 1 for the OC mystery!! What cute little 4 patches.

They seem to be a little heavy on the pink. Most of the pinks are left over from the Baby Nines quilt I made for my grand daughter Arlena.

I think I will take a little break and start cutting step 2 tomorrow.

Beautiful Iris

This beautiful iris is adorning my backyard. I wish they lasted longer. I love the color of this one. I have been spending too much time outdoors puttering around in the yard. There is so much to do.

I am still working on step 1 on OC. Everyday I keep thinking that I will get it done and move onto the next step. Maybe this evening.

Scrappy quilts

I haven't made a lot of scrappy quilts. I think that is one reason I am enjoying making the OC. It is a somewhat new experience for me. I am posting two pictures of the scrappy quilts I have made. Both are Alex Anderson patterns and retreat projects. I guess they are more planned scrappy. I love them both. The other scrappy quilt I made is really ugly and is at the bottom of my closet.

Taking time to get to know each other

Brandon and Kendall are getting acquainted again. She is really enjoying being with her Daddy. I know he is loving every minute he has with Kendall.

I am going to try and at least finish step 1 of OC today. I haven't looked at step 3 yet - but am really anxious to catch up!!

A little progress

I am slowly getting a feel for the site. I got the webring on there but don't know how to move things around yet. I know the picture should be after the post but it is where it is for now.

A little about me. I have been quilting for many years. Like most of you I have way too many projects in the works and too much stash. I am retired but do quilt for others. I had a Gammill until I moved to NC, downsized to an HQ16 after the move. I just did not have enough space in my new house for the Gammill.

I am very excited to be doing Orange Crush with the group. I haven't finished step one yet but hope to get some sewing time in today. Now that Brandon has returned home I will not be spending as much time with my daughter and grand daughter. It is going to be a big adjustment for me. I will still be babysitting for Kendall 2 days a week. I really look forward to those days.

I am going to add a picture of my three house mates. The boxer is Emmett, the mixed breed is Lucky and the Weimaraner is Grayson.

He's home

This may show up twice, not sure what I am doing yet. Trying to create my first post. My SIL returned from Iraq this morning. I decided this was the day to start a blog. He has been gone for 6 months. I know that isn't really very long but it sure seemed like forever. He missed so many firsts with his daughter. I am so thankful for his safe return. I will blog about my quilting life later but just wanted to share this wonderful news!!
