Home Alone

Everyone is gone. It was so nice to have all the kids together and all the grand kids. So quiet here after being with 3 babies 1 yr and under and one 3 yr old. So today it's back to baby sitting Kendall after a few errands this morning and tomorrow I will load a huge quilt and get back to work.

Saturday

The only sewing for today was embroidering a beach towel for Dylan. I'm afraid he really won't get to use it much because he fractured his arm last week. Maybe he will get a little time in the water if we are careful with his cast.
The day started off with a bike ride on Emerald Isle. Saturday morning is kind of a sad time on Emerald Isle. That's when most of the visitors are finishing their vacation, packing up and heading home. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live close enough to this awesome beach community to be able to visit whenever I want. I'm counting my blessings today:)

Another blessing this Saturday was the arrival of my Son Neal, my DIL Monika and grandson Dylan. Sherry and I were at the airport to welcome them. They will be here for a week, visiting from San Francisco.

Another project

Just what I need. Another project. This one is block one of the Designer Mystery BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop. The fabric is very soft to the touch. I am determined to keep up with this one.

I think after next week when the kids are all here I will be able to get back to the OC. I would really love to get on to the next step.

A Beautiful Yellow Ribbon

One of my customers entered her quilt in the recent North Carolina Quilters Symposium. We were each awarded a yellow ribbon. How nice that the quilt show gave both the quilt maker and the quilter ribbons
This is Grayson, aka chewie. He is 8 and still chews anything he can find!

Heading home

My brother and his family headed back to Indiana this morning after a great week at the beach. The weather was perfect. I will miss them, that week always goes so fast!!
One more week and then my other two children and their families will be here. It will be the first time all the grand kids will be together. That should be a fun week also.

Quilt for Wendy, my SIL

I think my SIL really liked the quilt I made for her. She has requested a second one with pelicans and an ocean scene. Guess I'd better start looking for patterns.

A relaxing morning at the beach

My ugly quilt was perfect to take to the beach. It's about the size of a beach towel and folded up nicely to put in my backpack. I rode for about 5 1/2 miles and then went down to the beach and sat to read for about an hour before heading back. It's getting very hot here so the ocean breeze felt really great. The beach had a few more people out than last week as the visitor season has begun. I have really been enjoying my bike. It was quite a work out getting back to the car yesterday. Riding against that lovely ocean breeze is like riding uphill.
My brother and his family will arrive at the beach today for a week. Always such a fun time when they are here. I am making good old southern BBQ and coleslaw and Sherry will provide the dessert for tonight. I will also have a nice big pitcher of margaritas ready when they arrive.

I forgot to say that the quilts in the last post are customer quilts. I didn't make them although I would be proud to call them mine.

Emmett and a couple more quilts

Butterfly Flurry and Ebb and Flow are the pantos used on these two quilts. Both are by Lorien Quilting.

Poor Emmett. He scratched his eye and hasn't been feeling his best. He went to the vet today. Hopefully the eye drops will help.
Bonnie showed the finished mystery today. It is a beauty. I am anxious to get on to step 3 but I have to concentrate on the double wedding ring quilt that I should have had finished by now.

Step 2 of OC is done!!

Finally finished step 2. I have to pick up my yardage yet and get the companion ruler. I have one somewhere but just tired of looking for it.

I took some pictures on my bike ride the other day. This one is of some landscaping that I really like.

I also finished all the customer quilts that were promised for May. This one has paper chase by Willow Leaf Studios. The Paisley Playtime in the previous post is also from Willow Leaf Studios.
