Sewing and Ripping

I have been procrastinating a little on a customer quilt. It has been on the machine ready to start all week. Just not one I look forward to doing. While pondering what to do with it I worked on my neutral quilt that I started at retreat last Nov. It will be a Storm at Sea. I have about 80 diamonds finished now. I also worked on OC finishing step 4!!!

Then I finally made myself get started on the quilt, it is holding up progress. I didn't like the way it looked so I spent all day yesterday ripping.
I will try again later this evening.

Playing with photoshop

I am trying to learn photoshop. I think it is going to take me a long time!! I tried one of the Pioneer Woman's favorite actions - hard light. I like it. Monika's sunburn on her arm doesn't even show in the first, original photo. Then I cropped a little of the sky. Photoshop is fun but very time consuming.

Keeping up

The July block for the Designer Mystery BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop is done. It's a pretty one.

Not too much other sewing going on here. I have been catching up on yard work and some house cleaning. I am working on step 4 of the orange crush this evening.

I took a walk on the beach this morning with my daughter, Sherry. We thought we might find some nice shells or shark teeth. Usually the shell hunting is good after a storm, nothing but stinky seaweed today. It was still a nice walk.

Handwork

Grayson has been recovering from a very nasty infection from an open wound. He scratched a hole in his neck while trying to get rid of a small fatty cyst, at least that is what the vet thinks he was doing. I have been sitting with him on the couch and doing some hand stitching. I have worked on Happy Hauntings and also some hand embroidery baskets. The baskets are a gift from a dear friend. Gray is doing much better, goes back to the vet on Monday.

Progress

I quilted two quilts for customers on Tuesday. The first is with paper chase and the second is the feather me pattern again.

The arcs are finished for the DWR. I'm really not all that happy with the greens but I think in the end it will be okay. I have to buy the fabric for the background now and connect the arcs to the melons. The corners are put on last.

Chantilly Lace and Step 3 OC

This customer requested Chantilly Lace by Norma Sharp. I quilted it with Signature off-white thread.

I finally got back to Orange Crush, finishing step 3 this evening. I really dreaded doing this step since I had read so many comments about it on the message board. It really wasn't so bad. I have also been working on the DWR and have the second set of arcs nearly finished. Carol

Party Time

Kendall will be one this month, Arlena was one in May and Dylan will be one in August. We decided to have a little party for them since we were all together. I think they enjoyed the cake, we enjoyed watching them. Mason is three, he liked the hats. He borrowed his cousin's beach hat. What a cutie.

Feather Me

Feather Me panto by Meredith England and Signature off-white thread is what I used on this customer's quilt. This is a large quilt, about as big as I can do on my set-up. Feather Me is a new panto for me, I think I will be using it a lot.

Binding

I am determined to get the binding on this quilt. The quilt, a Thimbleberries pattern, made in flannels, has been done for many years. I don't know why I never put the binding on unless maybe the binding fabric got lost in the shuffle and whenever I run across it, it seems like it is not a good time to work on it. Always something else that takes priority. It actually has been hanging in my room, getting a little dusty. So - I need to put that binding on so I can launder it!!

July

The summer seems to be speeding by. Upcoming events for July are my brother's birthday on the 9th, he will be 62, yikes! Little Kendall will be 1 on the 18th. What a fun year it has been watching Kendall grow. I wish the other grand kids were closer. Arlena was 1 in May and Dylan will be 1 next month.

Other than that the month is not too remarkable for me. I hope to get lots of projects finished and maybe some organizing done in the house, lots more bike riding and maybe even do some needle punch.
