Paisley Playtime

One of my favorite patterns. I used it on both of these customer quilts. Only one more to go and all the May commitments will be finished.

Another rainy day

Looks like another rainy day, no biking this morning. I guess I will have to get right to work.

My daughter and I had a nice ride last Sunday. We still haven't taken Kendall out in the cart, hope to do that this weekend.

I did finish a couple of customer quilts and worked a little on OC. Still, still on step 2. I have 3 quilts that must be done this weekend and am hosting a little stampin up card party at my house tomorrow. It is going to be a busy day here! Getting the first quilt loaded this morning and this afternoon cleaning and preparing goodies for tomorrow.

Ocracoke and back

Nothing quilt related accomplished. The plans for yard work yesterday and loading a quilt were set aside for a day trip. A couple of friends called and invited me to go to Ocracoke Island with them so off I went. It is a 2 hr. car ride and a 2 hr ferry ride from my house. We had time to see the lighthouse and had a nice dinner. We decided to spend the night but all the hotels were full. We will have to go again when we really plan the trip and head out early. Even though we didn't have much time on the island it was a fun trip and I'm ready to go again. Next time I hope to remember my camera!!

Not much happening here

I just got back from a bike ride. I think I did about 8 miles today. Doesn't sound like much but I may be taking a second ride later today with the kids. My daughter, Sherry, bought a bike cart so she could take Kendall with us. That should be fun. Until then I have a lot of yard work to do and a little shopping. I must get a quilt loaded today - it's going to be a busy day!!

Happy Mother's Day

I decided to change the routine a little. I walk a lot, either with Kendall or taking Lucky to the beach. I dug out the old bicycle and thought I would fix it up to ride. Emerald Isle has a nice bike path plus a nice ride along the ocean. It didn't take long to decide that a new bike was in order. Yesterday I bought myself a shiny new bike. Never thought I would be buying another bike at this stage of my life. My one slight obstacle is the fact that I drive a VW bug. It is not an easy task to stuff that bike in the back of the bug. I bought a bike rack but it isn't working out too well on that slanted trunk. Guess I will have to do some more researching to find the ideal carrier.

I got up early this morning to ride before the rain came in. Well, it took me a little over an hour to find the car key. I had left it in the garage last night while installing the carrier. I was determined to ride so I went anyway. Got a bit of a ride in before I saw the lightening and decided to head back to the car. So even though I did get pretty wet it was fun.

Spring roadside flowers

We have the most beautiful flowers along the highway going out to Emerald Isle. Kendall's Mom and Dad took her out to see them and to get a few pictures. I really like this one.

Weekend stuff

Yesterday I went for a long walk on the beach with Lucky. We haven't been going as often so it seemed like he tired out quickly. He kept getting slower and slower. It was a perfect day for a walk, just the right temp. and a lovely wind off the ocean.

On the sewing front I managed to piece a backing for one of my quilts that has been in the to-be-quilted pile for a long time. I had to look all over the house for the quilt but finally found it. I hate when I have to look for stuff, it wastes so much time.

I'm off to spend the afternoon with Kendall. I should be home fairly early and get another customer quilt loaded and also spend some time working on step 2 of OC.

YO-YO's

My daughter asked me to make a yo-yo doll for Arlena's birthday. Actually she asked for it for Christmas but I just couldn't get those yo-yos done fast enough. The doll is together but this afternoon I will be taking it apart and putting it back together with stronger thread. I used quilting thread thinking it would be strong enough. I realized one tug from a one year old and it would fall apart. I need to make a birthday card today also and get the doll and card in the mail on Monday. The pattern is designed by Jenny Krauss.

Motivation Friday

Vicky, LA Quilter, suggested that we might blog about Motivation Friday. As Vicky said, Motivation Friday was something we used to do on Alex Anderson's message board. We summed up our weeks progress.

This week I finished step one on OC and quilting a customer quilt. The stars and loops panto is one of Linda Taylor's. I use it a lot, especially on patriotic quilts. It suits them well.

Tonight I plan to do some cutting. Hopefully all of clue 2 and start cutting the wedding quilt I am making for my son Neal and his wife Monika. They were married last May so it is long overdue.
